QuestionI am 21 years old, no children & no pregnancies. Here's my question... I went off the pill for about 4 months and my period was right on time for all 4 months (28 days exactly!) I got BCP from my doctor and took one and lost the pack, got my "period" a week later and found the pack about a week after that and started taking them again. Here's what happened w/ exact dates:
1/08/04: 1st day of a normal period
1/31/04: Sick, went to Dr., took blood pregnancy test, came back negative on 2/02/04
2/04/04: 1st day of normal period
2/22/04: took ONE BCP & lost pack
2/29/04: VERY light spotting
3/01/04: nothing
3/02/04: even lighter spotting
3/05/04: negative home pregnancy test
5/08/04: found pills & started from where I left off
5/12/04: negative home pregnancy test
I've been nauseas off and on, mainly when I lay down or rest. And light cramping very often, sort of like it would be in the very begining of my period. No breast tenderness, nor dark areolas. I have been more tired, but not exhausted. I urinate more frequently and have more than normal discharge (for me) but there's no smell or discoloration to it.
I have no idea how to figure out the days and how far along I would be if I were pregnant or if I took the home pregnancy tests too early or what. Can one birth control pill mess up my period that much since I haven't been on it in a few months? Any advice or information would be VERY helpful! Thank you in advance!
AnswerHi Nikki,
actually yes when you stop and start the pill as you did, the hormonal flux can cause problems, so I would advise you to continue taking the pill as you have and wait a couple of cycles to see if it straightens out. IF it doesn't then see your obgyn and get reevaluated.
