Postpartum Abdominal Weakness & Digestive Issues: Causes & Solutions

Question
Goodevening Mrs Helene,
I gave birth 9 months ago, yet i feel that my lower abdomen muscles are too loose, they never were. I have flatus (gases) too often and when i need to urinate i can't wait for long. Even when i have sex i feel flatus (gases). Are all these related to my giving birth and what can i do for this.
Thank you for your time.

Answer
It sounds like you might be dealing with either dietary/digestive problems and/or might have a problem like bladder prolapse. Make an appointment with your OBGYN to see if you have any of these types of problems.

For your muscles, start doing basic postpartum exercises to build up core strength. Don't start with abdominal exercises like crunches as these types of exercises can do more harm then good. And you should also be doing lots of Kegel exercises to rebuild strength in your pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic floor strength will help you hold your urine better.
