Post-Birth Control Period: What to Expect & When to Worry
QuestionI have been on birth control for 3 months to regulate my periods as i was not ovulating. I had a period on June 15th and then i stopped birth control on the 30th of june and i started another period on the 3rd. After stopping birth control is it normal to get a period that fast? I had been in the hospital last month for disfunctional uterine bleeding, could this be related to that or is it just something different? It feels like a normal period after 8 months of having screwed up ones, but my husband and i would like to conceive and just want to know about the periods after birth control. Thanks
AnswerIt is common to immediately start bleeding when stopping the pill. Eventually, your period will become regular again. In what way were you having DUB (dysfunctional uterine bleeding? Usually in DUB you will bleed for more than 14 days at a stretch and you will need a D&C to correct it.
