Postpartum Period Irregularities: Causes & When to Seek Medical Advice

i had my baby sept. 21 2004 i still have not had my period. i have not had sex since the delivery for it to be a pregnancy. i get cramps like my body is having a period but no bleeding. when i had the baby i had a problem w/ bleeding and they gave me drugs to stop it. my uterus was also slow going back to where it's supposed to. the doc's checked at my 4 week check up and said everything was fine. what could cause all this? should i be scared?

I would suggest that you call your doctor and have your period induced for you using Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days. Then you should get your period within 10 more days. If not, consult with your gynecologist for further evaluation. It is definitely abnormal not to get your period for longer than 3 months after delivery, unless you are breast feeding.
