QuestionHI Dr,
I am 28 year old, my menarche was when i was 16 ,and it has been irregular since then,i didnt see a dr till 2 years ago caus as i know the stress affects period and i was under big stress!when she diagnosed me with multifollicular ovaries, she said if i want to get my period regular i should start cocp but she said if it doesnt bother me i can start it later cause we have family history of breast ca.beside i did blood test for estrogen progesteron and prolactin on 3rd day of the cycle 3 years ago and they were normal.well i think multifollicular is the same of pcos, however i am skinny ,i dont have acne, except for little hair growth around my areola and my chin (especially right).they are not that much but it does bother me,my question is if i wanna get pregnant would that be a big problem??and the problem is that i am new in the States and the insurance company will not cover me if i wanna start cocp to regulate my cycle??cause i am buying my insurance and i think they will consider me as pre-existing condition??well i prefer to postpone cocp now cause of family history of breast ca!
thanks
AnswerHi Stacy,
While it is possible to become pregnant, you're at a higher risk for miscarriage. Fertility problems may be related to the elevated hormone, insulin, or glucose levels, all of which can interfere with implantation as well as development of the embryo. Abnormal insulin levels may also contribute to poor egg quality, making conception more difficult.
Stabilizing hormone levels can help your fertility. Your doctor may prescribe ovulation medications, such as Clomid, to encourage ovulation.
