Persistent Acne: Causes, Solutions & Expert Advice

Question
QUESTION: Hi Elaine!
Well, I'm having an acne problem right now, and I've hardly seen any change of my acne. Perhaps only twice or thrice times. Basically, I've been using foam soap for acne specifically for about 3 years now, and I don't think it's going very well. Is this because of my hormones? or is it because of me not taking good care of my skin?

ANSWER: Hello William!

I'm happy to help but I need to ask a few questions to understand why you may have acne.
Could you write me and let me know what your diet consists of?
Are you drinking 8-10 glasses of water? How much salt and sugar intake? Do you eat a variety of fruits and vegetables? Do you eat fish?
What is the product you are using?
Once I read your answer, I can further determine how to proceed

In the meantime, please start drinking 8-10 glasses water daily

Look forward to your reply

Warmly
Elaine :)

QUESTION: Oh thank you soo much!
Well, lately, I haven't been drinking much water. Perhaps, 3-4 cups daily. Salt and sugar, I'm really not sure. But I watch my intakes very well. I believe I've had more salt intake than sugar. For fruits, yes. I eat plums, strawberries, and oranges. Vegetables, I often eat a side dish of it when eating meat as well..
The current product I'm using right now is a Neutrogena product named "Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash"
It is a green liqued but it comes out as foam.

Answer
Hello William :)

I'm HAPPY to read that you are drinking water. Try to add a glass or two until you get to your required 8-10 glasses daily :)
Try to ease up on salt intake and see how your skin reacts to it. Sugar intake is bad as it is hard not to consume sweets. Just try to keep it to a low intake. If you like chocolate, switch to dark chocolate which has cocoa and has antioxidants. The more antioxidants the better.
Also, taking a multivitamin is ideal.

Continue to use the Neutrogena - it is a good product as I believe that it contains salicylic acid which helps with acne prone skin.

If you can also start eating salmon 3 times a week. It has DMAE an ingredient to help with skin's health.

Also, if you have any stress in your life, exercise and look into yoga.

HOpe this helps

I'm happy to answer any other questions if needed

Warmly
Elaine :)
