QuestionQUESTION: I was late 1 week took, a Home pregnancy test, it showed up positive, So I tried another one (different brand) they both came up negative. So I took one more of the first brand it said positive. Went to Doctor a few days later showed her the positive test, she said yes I am, after seeing them. So sent me for a HCG levels. They came back the next day at 12, and at that time I had started to bleed. I had a scan and an internal scan, but nothing was found, no sac nothing! I had blood test on the same day, it came back at 7.
Last September I had a miscarriage, but my levels were alot higher and the scan picked up stuff. I bleed for 19 days with the first miscarriage. But with this one I stopped on the 7th, which felt like a normal period? This was very weird, are you able to tell me what happened.
Thanks
ANSWER: Victoria,
I'm really sorry to hear what you are going through.
Has your doctor or consultant offered you any kind of explanation?
Those HCG levels do seem rather low. It might be that the egg fertilised but never embedded. I am not medically trained so please do not accept my answer as accurate. If you were really early on then there would be no sac to see. In the first week the cells are dividing, usually in the tube, and remain as a cluster of cells. Do you know how far you could have been? Do you use any contraception that would prevent the fertilised egg from embedding into the lining of the uterus?
If you are still unsure, and want answers then your doctor should be able to offer you a more detailed explanation of your results.
Kind regards,
Christine

QUESTION: Hi thanks so much for replying, no my doctor has not really told me about it all, very confused. as this is very different from my last one, I didn't have any pain, at all really not like last time, and no I am not on the pill or anything. I have tried ringing my doctor but she never replays to my phone calls,I don't think it helps that I am in a different country, I am a kiwi and living in Aussie with my husband. I remember my HCG levels from last time were 410 after my first test.
Thanks so much
Victoria
AnswerVictoria,
No 2 pregnancies are the same. I thought your tests this time seemed low. Can you make an appointment to go in and see the doctor. (Sorry our medical system works different in the UK I suspect). You have the right to answers. If your doctor wont give them to you, ring the hospital where you had the blood tests and scan, explain the situation and request that someone speak to you. Im sure someone will be willing to help you.
Some times there isn't any answers, sometimes it just happens. I know its not something nice to be going through, and the lack of answers is really frustrating, I also know that feeling. Ask yourself if the answers will change anything, really change anything. If it is something you need, drive forward for the answers, if you think you can accept it without them try to focus on something different.
Sorry I cant give you any exact answers,
Kind regards,
Christine
