Understanding Post-Miscarriage Spotting & Trying to Conceive

Question

Ok this is my first time using this site. I have a lot of questions & hope that someone can help @ least ease my mind. About 2wks ago I experienced a natraul miscarriage @ 4wks 4days. On sept.18th I went in for a follow up with my doctor she said all pass through and the bleeding had completely stopped. So that day my partner & I decided we will ttc. We have been having intercourse ever since. Well three days ago I started spotting again. I'm still taking my prenatal vitamins  as the doctor said too because I am trying to conceive. Can anyone tell me why spotting would start after stopping? Can I be pregnant again? Or could I be having some type of infection? My doc has done little to nothing to ease my mind since I reached out to her giving a lot of could be reasons. Has anyone been down this path be for if so any advice would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Erica,

Im really sorry to read about your miscarriage. With a miscarriage no 2 woman have the same experience. It can take months for the body to return to normal. This doesn't mean that there is anything wrong but just that your body goes through so much and needs time to recover. You may find your menstrual cycles are all over the place, spotting or no bleeding at all for weeks. This should not stop your ttc, if your doctor has medically given you the go ahead, you just need to be aware that not everything will be working to the same time lines as before. It is also possible that you have conceived right away. The only way to find that out is by doing a pregnancy test althpough even with an Early Bird one you may need to wait another week to 10 days for an accurate result. I dont personal think from what you have said you have an infection or anything unusual going on. If you experience any pain then I would go immediately back to your doctor, but in the mean time keep on ttc and have lots of fun. You will notice in time that your cycles return to normal, and the spotting will stop. As your cycles will be a bit all over you might need to do hpt's regular, but hopefully you will soon have a positive and go on to have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Good luck,

Kind regards,

Christine
