Early Pregnancy Concerns: Spotting and Cramps - What Could It Mean?
QuestionI took two home pregnancy tests over the past three days. Both were positive. My last period ended about 6 weeks ago and now that I've been thinking about it my last period was a little different. I have been blessed as far as periods go. Usually no more than 3 days, I only need light to slender regular and no cramps. This last period was heavier than normal, I had bad cramps and a tissue-like discharge. I figured it was just uterine tissue shedding. Do you think it could have been one of twins miscarrying? I am trying to see a Dr. but the earliest appt. is not for 10 days.
AnswerHi Lana
It's more likely that you simply had a heavier period, this does happen from time to time with every woman. It is a good idea to mention it to the doctor if you are concerned.
When you go for your scan, they will be able to tell you how many weeks pregnant you are. If you are further along in your pregnancy than you thought you were and you find that around the time of your last period you were in fact pregnant, then discuss this with the sonographer/midwife. They may be able to look for signs of a twin loss.
Please don't worry. As I said, it's most likely your body having a 'spring clean'!
Kindest Regards
