Delayed Period After Medroxyprogesterone: Possible Pregnancy?

Question
I took medroxyprogesterone for 10 days.  The last day I took it was April 17th, and I still haven't gotten a period, it's now May 3rd.  My doctor told me it would take 3-10 days for my period to come.  Since I didn't use protection the time I was on the medication is there a possibility that the reason I haven't gotten my period yet is because I'm pregnant, even though I've taken home pregnancy tests a few weeks ago and they came up negative?

Answer
If the pregnancy test have been persistently negative, you are, most likely, not pregnant. Sometimes, medroxyprogesterone does not always induce your period the first course. Often, we give a second course of this medication for 10 days. If you do bleed, it indicates that your ovaries are working properly and you only had a deficiency of progesterone. However, if you do not get your period after 10 days of Provera, it may indicate that there is some problem with your hypothalamus or pituitary gland. Your doctor should then check your FSH and LH levels and start further investigation as to why you have not started bleeding. Discuss it with your doctor.
