Adenocarcinoma in Situ (AIS) Stage 0: HPV Connection & Causes

i was diagnosed with adeno carcinoma in situ stage 0 and the doctor took an hpv test which came back negative. can hpv cause adeno carconima in situ or does it cause a different type of cancer?

Hi Tracy,

HPV is one of the primary causes of cervical cancer, however it is not the only one. We still don't know what exactly causes cervical cancer beyond HPV.

HPV can cause both adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, a more common type of cervical cancer.
