Questionmy friend has many female problems, she has all symptoms of ovarian cancer, except for the urgency in urination. and she also has not had a period in three months. she is not pregnant. she has been to doctor after doctor and nooone can give her an answer. is ovarian cancer able to be seen on an ultrasound (vaginal) ? also her white blooc cell counts look fine, is this a reliable thing for varian or uteran cancer?
AnswerFirst, I suggest your friend find a physician that will listen to her concerns about possibly having ovarian cancer. There are many tests that can be done to detect cancer.
Yes, tumors can be detected in the pelvic region by vaginal ultrasound. Id a tumor is suspected, then more test and possibly exploratory surgery would be done to rule out cancer.
I am not sure if your friend is seeing a family practice doctor or not, but I would definitely recommend her seeing a gynecologist. The symptoms of ovarian cancer are so similar to those of many other illnesses. More than likely it is a benign condition.
Best of luck to you both,
