Genital Warts and Cervical Cancer Risk: What You Need to Know

Question
Hi,

i have heard that genital warts can increase the chance of cervical cancer. Is this true? And if so, is there much of an increase in the risk?

Thanks

Pauline

Answer
Dear Pauline,   HPV (genital warts) can leed to dysplasia which inturn can leed to cervical cancer....  Women with HPV, must have a routine annual pap smear to check for abnormalities and if there are abnormalities, then depending on what type of adnormalities are found, further action is required or having check-up pap smears every 6 months instead of yearly....

here is a web site that may help you because HPV is not the only cause of cervical cancer and smoking along with having HPV could increase even higher the chance for Cervical cancer...
