Sore Throat Symptoms & Strep Throat: What to Know

Question
A few weeks ago my girlfriend had a sore throat (strep had been going around the school so I thought maybe she might have gotten that.  I had strep 1-2 weeks earlier but took the pills and everything).  Her throat wasn't extremely sore, just a little and mostly a stuffy nose (which is how I was when I had strep...my throat didnt hurt all that much).  Then after a couple days she was going to go to the doctor but she ended up feeling fine within like 4 days and has been feeling fine ever since.  However, today she told me that today and kinda this past week she hasnt been feeling too well when she eats.  She said she feels like she has to throw up or something when she eats.  I am just wondering, is there any way these two could be related?  I know strep leads to bad problems if you don't get it fixed but I don't know if after a little while the first signs of strep like the sore throat go away and then other signs might come up like feeling like you have to throw up when you eat.  I don't really know.  I am just asking to see if you know if these two symptoms are really related or if she most likely just had a normal sore throat and stuffy nose and now she just has a stomach ache or some other thing that might go away on its on.  I just dont want any major problems to come up or anything.  So are these two ever related or anything

Answer
I doubt they are related, though they certainly seem to be in time.  Untreated strep probably get better without bad problems more often than we know.  The incidence of complications from untreated strep throat is still very rare.  If she is not feeling well, it is worth a trip to her doctor for evaluation.
