Understanding Right Ventricular Systolic Pressure & Pulmonary Hypertension
QuestionHello,
I was wondering if the (Tricuspid) Right Ventricle Systolic Pressure could determine pulmonary hypertension. If so, what is a high RVSP? What is the normal range? Thank you.
AnswerThe right side of the heart produces relatively low pressures, typically up to 40, usually around 25 in the right ventricle.... once pulmonary hypertension sets in, there is no great treatment. That is why it is important to treat sleep apnea if it is present or try to prevent pulmonary emboli (both of which can lead to pulm htn)
