Bladder Infections and Diabetes in Men: Understanding the Connection

Question
My boyfriend has type 2 diabetes brought on by Agent Orange in VietNam. He was diagnosed 4 years ago with the possibility that he could have had it for 2 years undetected. He has no med ins. other than the VA, which is where he is being treated. His diabetes complications(foot neuropothy)seem to have occurred at an excellerated rate compared to my mother who has been type 2 for 16+ years. Of late, he has been getting infections either in the bladder or urinary tract. He is not told which, just that he has infection. They have him catheterizing himself 3x daily, as they say he is not emptying his bladder. They want to go in and scrape his urinary tract, prostate, and interior bladder walls. The prostate is slightly enlarged. When he catheterizes, sometimes he gets 200 units, and sometimes 400 units more urine to drain. Is it normal for some urine to stay in the bladder or could he possibly have neuropothy of the bladder nerves that control the contracting of the bladder? I feel that they should try a few different meds to shrink the prostate before operating, but they have only tried one.I have also heard that type 2 progresses far more rapidly in vets affected by Agent Orange. What is your take on this?
Thank you

Yes, it does because the AO complicates the diabetes and vice versa.

Ask his doctor but this is what I use for my patients:
1) Fish oil 3000mg (900 mg EPA/DHA) before each meal and at bedtime to retore the nervous system and detox the AO
2) High Potency B complex, (B-100) before each meal help #1
3) Magnesium oxide 250 mg before each meal and at bed
4) Calcium carbonate with Vit D at dinner and bed
5) Vit C 500 mg before each meal
6) Vit E 400 IU twice a day
7) Cinnamon 1/4 tsp in food before each meal if over weight
helps control the diabetes
