Neck Swelling & Tenderness: Potential Causes & When to See a Doctor

My neck seems to be swollen and is tender, sometimes more than other times.  I get bouts of feeling totally lethargic when this happens.  Any ideas what it might be

Dear Amanda,   You have not told me exactly where this swelling occurs, but possibilities are mononucleosis, infection in the lymph nodes of the neck, cancer in the lymph nodes of the neck, thyroid problems etc....

I "STRONGLY" suggest that you see your doctor and get some blood tests done and even an ultrasound  or  ct-scan of your neck area.....
