QuestionGood Morning,
I am concerned over the last 6 nights, I wake up needing to go to the bathroom urgently. (about 6 hours after I fall asleep. I have always slept through the night just fine. The amount that I void is normal, not excessive. I am a 42 year old diabetic, well controled, this morning my sugar is 83 upon waking. i thought maybe I had the begining of a uti, so I started some cipro that I have. But that does not seem to be helping. I am wondering if you have any thoughts about what this may be, or what kind of doctor I should see. Also, there are no other symptoms.
Thank you for your time and help!
Susan
AnswerHi Susan,
First, I would never start any medicine without checking with your doctor. Besides you should never have any "left over antibiotics". Cipro and diabetics don't get along too well as Cipro can alter blood sugar.
This may be a situation called neurogenic bladder from the diabetes. Also a possibility could be that your pelvic muscles have started to waken and your bladder may be dropping causing this need to void at night. In any event, given your medical history and the suddeness of your symptoms, I would ask your doctor about this.
