QuestionI am a 65 year old male, "TURPED" five years ago,and in good health. My doctor, at a walk in clinic, two weeks ago sent me for ultrasounds, because I had a sticky discharge from my penis.I am on tetracycline for 10 days now.
Here are the ultrasound results:
No signs of "ascites" (?)or mass lesions. There is an echogenic nonshadowing nonmobile 4 mm polyp in the gall bladder wall.
Prostate gland is very irregular and large and protrudes into the posterior urinary bladder. The prostate mesures 4.6 cm x 5.3 cm x 5.7cm in diameter. Total prostate volume is 72.6 g.
As I said, I have been TURPED. Is this a false reading? Please respond.
Thank you.
ruzbey.
AnswerThe TUR does not remove all of the prostate and often leaves a fair amount of prostate tissue, that can become infected (which it sounds like from the discharge) Also, people can still get prostate cancer. However, if you quickly developed symptoms, it sounds much more like an infection that should resolved quickly... hope this helps... The gall bladder thing is probably nothing, but will have to be followed or removed. The size of the prostate is worrying.... that is big unless there was an error in measuring.... I suspect your doctor will wind up referring you back to a urologist quickly, or if it was the urologist, he is going to have to consider biopsies of the prostate....
