Understanding Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) & Mononucleosis: Symptoms & Recovery

Question
It is the epstein-barr virus count. I also wanted to know if it is normal to faint when you have this? I am sorry, but I have another question. Does the mono get worse the more times you get it? I have had it at least 3 times now and this time it has really put me down. Thanks for such a speedy response. I got a shot yesterday but I am still not feeling well.
I am from central Texas. I hope all this helps. Kara

-----Question-----
It has been about 4 months now that I have been feeling really fatigued and achy. I do not sleep and I have been depressed. Well I went to the doctor and got some zoloft for depression, elavil for sleep and pain and they took some blood. It is 50 mg for both. On Christmas morning I fainted and had a dull headache on the top all the rest of the day. Well I got my test results back and they said that my mono was elevated. There is a couple of things I want to know, what kind of scale is it measured on and should I be concerned that I passed out? The last time my mono count was elevated it was 80 this time it is 930. How high does it have to get before I am concerned? This time was really hard.
-----Answer-----
Hi Kara,
I guess I need to know what your "mono" means. Is it a monocyte level on a blood count or an elevation on the epstein-barr virus. You may have a flare up of Epstein-Barr virus which is causal of infectious mononucleosis and implicated in chronic fatigue.

Answer
Hi Kara,
You can only get Infectious Mono once. Fainting is not part of the illness. What you have is a flare up of the virus that causes Mono but you don't have Mono per se. Epstein Barr virus is with you forever once you're infected and flare ups can occur repeatedly through the years.
