My LMP is 11/15/04, however my cycle was 48 days. I am 12 weeks pg through u/s. I am 30.
My son broke out in a bumby rash. I took him to the pediatrician and was told that he has a contageous virus. They are not sure what kind, but it is not slap face. I am wondering should I worry about contracting it and passing it on to the baby that I am carrying. Is it possible to get it and not know. Are there things I should avoid?
Also, are lunch meats dangerous? What about diet pops and splenda.
Thank you,
Michelle

Once the virus that your son has is identified, it can be treated correctly. There is nothing you can do until it is identified. Until then, try to avoid much contact with him. If you have had your childhood viruses (chicken pox, measles, mumps, etc,) you should be immune to them and will not get the virus. Lunch meats have lots of salt and you should not have too much of them during pregnancy. You can drink diet sodas if they are sweetened with Nutrasweet. Avoid those that contain Sacharin. Splenda is safe for use during pregnancy.
They said that it is an intravirus, but could not specify which. He is not being treated. We were just instructed to keep an eye on him to make sure that no other symptoms arose. I imagine that if it were serious, they would have given him something for it. The rash is clearing up. What kind of contact should I avoid? It is really hard with a 22 month old.
Is nutra sweet and aspartame the same?
As far as the lunch meat, I am more worried about listeria.
AnswerNutrasweet is a combination of essential amino acids: aspartame and phenylalanine. Both are safe for use during pregnancy unless you have an allergy to either. I would not worry about listeria because it is quite rare. Of course, do not use luncheon meats that have been sitting out or that are not packaged correctly.
