Understanding High C-Reactive Protein (CRP) Levels: Causes & Next Steps
QuestionDear Doctor,
My father's blood test shows high C reactive protein count (100mg/l). He is at the age of 64.
What should we infer ? General notes in the report & internet literature makes us panic indicating a high CRP as a possible symptom of severe medical condition.whether we have to do any additional examinations?
Doctor have prescribed general antibiotics.If the CRP doesnt reduce even after consumption of antibiotics what should we do ?

AnswerCRP is made in the liver... it is a NON SPECIFIC biomarker of inflammation. hs-CRP is more specific for cardiac issues. So it could mean several things... acute or chronic sources of inflammation. For more information refer to:
