on average,a menstrual cycle is 26 days long, although cycles normally range anywhere from 23-35 days. if your cycle doesnt fall within range,it may not be a problem.
however, extremely long or extremely short cycles are sometimes associated with infertility. on average, menstrual bleeding lasts 4-5 days, but periods as short as 2 days or as long as 7 arent unusual.
at times, your period may become temporarily irregular for no obvious reason. you may skip a period or have one thats much longer, shorter or heavier than usual. sometimes this change simply reflects your age. at other times, stress may play a role.
