Bright Green Stool in Toddlers: Causes & When to Worry - Pediatric Advice
Questionfor the past two days ive noticed that my sons stools have been bright green like a neon green its not wet its a normal consistency
AnswerThis forum does not allow for the diagnosis of conditions, but I can tell you as an ER doctor of 16 years I have seen parents bring in their toddlers with odd stools in diapers. Most often they are innocent. Green, blue, purple, orange, etc. are usually due to food color in juices the child has consumed. Most alarming for parents is red... often misconstrue as blood. A quick hemocult test can determine if it is food color or blood. Two days ago this happened in my ER. Bright green without diarrhea and fever is mostly innocent and just food color (usually blue color).
Hope this helps.
