We have already seen how color correcting concealers can minimize certain visible colors of the skin surface and also how they can enhance and brighten your tone. Today let’s talk about green– often a witchy-wicked-witch sort of color, but it can do wonders to your makeup palette.
Now about green, if you cast a glance at the color wheel , it’ll show that it’s just opposite of the color red, which means it will neutralize all sorts of red hues which seems to get all the attention on your face. Simply put acne, rosacea, birthmarks, port-wine stains, ruddiness, pimples, and even scars can all be neutralized by the color green. But how to apply this green color correcting thing or green primer is million dollar question. Besides, this also needs some practice to be able to properly conceal your blemishes.
Here’s some help at hand to give you an insight on to how you can make good and effective use of the green concealers and primers.
Don’t forget that the lesser and pinpointed you use, the better it is. It is NOT a normal concealer or primer that you need to put and blend on to your whole facial skin.
Apply the green primer or green concealer either with a small brush or with the tip of your finger on to targeted red spots. Cover up with a skin toned concealer or primer on the whole face.
You need to try and practice using greens and seeing which color tone of green actually suits you. Many are available in the market but not all will be for YOU. Some people need olive green , others may need icy mint greens or even richer tones.
If you don’t seem to find the right tone, you can always create one. Be your own artist and mix and match your skin tone concealers with the green ones to get that perfect blend which will suit your skin type and effectively hide the red of the blemishes.
This is an extra tinge of concealer or mineral foundation powder or primer in a tone of yellow, that you MAY need to apply over your tinge of green concealer before applying your skin tone foundation all over. Now why are we doing this? It’s to just tone down the green effects, since yellow brightens up the complexion.
So greening first to conceal red patches and then yellowing the exact target to minimize and tone down the green effects. Lastly full coverage for a perfect finish with your skin colored concealer, foundation and primer.
But still do you really need a green concealer? Unless you really have a rosy tone to your skin and your pimple marks or redness don’t shows too much, don’t go for green concealers. They may just make your look too much made-up. If you still want to, then you can try the blending process and use them according to the intensity of the redness.
Another great use of green primers (or concealers in cream or lotion form) is that they help minimize redness of varicose veins when applied prior to the skin toned foundation
