Understanding Strokes After Head Injury: A Bereaved Wife's Questions

Question
My husband died and I am still putting together parts and pieces of the experience and hope you can help me with this one.  He was not in the ER long when I was informed that his were not surviveable injuries, that the damage to his brain was so extensive and severe.  And that there was evidence he had already had one potentially fatal stroke AFTER hitting his head.  More strokes were likely.

How is it possible to determine that he had a stroke after hitting his head?

Answer
strokes from trauma are bleeding strokes... those types are easy to determine via cat scan or MRI.... you only gave me minimal information, nothing about his injuries.... usually if someones has a stroke after hitting head, it is an intracerebral hemm or an epidural hematoma or subdural hematoma.... if that is what was said on the CT, that is consistent with trauma.... I hope this helps...
