Understanding High AST/ALT Levels: Causes, Concerns & What to Do

I understand the range for both AST/ALT is 0 - 40. My numbers are 149 & 195. At what numbers should there be concern? I'm stopping my statin for one month then a re-check. Should I avoid alcohol until then?

something is irritating your liver... causes can be statins, can be viral illnesses, like Hepatitis C, can be from other drugs, alcohol included.  Should you be concerned.... yes, by paying attention to it and following up with the workup.  Should you be worried.... no... they will find the cause and eliminate it most likely.  Hope this helps.

PS... yes, avoid the alcohol for now also..
