Understanding Elevated ALT, AST & Low Platelets: Causes & Next Steps

Thanks, in advance, for your time and response.  I really appreciate it.

I am a female in my early 30's.  I went in to the doc b/c i have been having vague abdominal pains for several months and have been bruising easily.  

Doc ordered blood work, did a pap, pelvic exam and this is what i rec'd for results.

All w/in normal range except:
ast 66 (range 10-30)
alt 96 (range 6-40)
platelets 100k (range 150k-400k)

any thoughts or further testing suggested?

Hi Maria.  Based on the results you've provided me, I'd say you may need further testing to rule out any liver problems.  Your AST and ALT, which are both liver enzymes, are high.  And your platelet count is low, which could be why you are bruising easily.  I would definitely check with your doctor to determine your next step.  Good luck!
