Understanding Intermittent AST/ALT Elevation After Whipple Surgery

Question
I am one year post op modified whipple for benign tumor. two months ago, my AST/ALT were slightly elevated then normal two weeks later. My liver functions have always been normal prior to this onset. I have recently developed sensitivity in my upper thighs (ie. very sensitive when I even touch my skin). Could these be related?

Answer
Hi Carol,
Not likely. Elevated Liver Function Test's can be from any number of things. It really depends on how high they go and for how long they stay elevated.
Not sure about the skin sensitivity. That's kind of an ambiguous symptom that's hard to figure out.
