Jaw and Chest Pain: Understanding Potential Causes & When to Seek Help

Question
I'm a 50 year old male who has had acid reflux for many years and recently I have been having a different pain that I'm not sure if it is another form of acid reflux. The pain starts in the jaw and then I get a very sharp pain across my whole chest at the same time. I have noticed that antacids don't work and liquid Maalox helps for a short time. Is this my acid reflux at its worst?

Answer
do not play with this... unless you have had specific tests for coronary disease, you need to have at least, a nuclear stress test or cat scan angiogram or heart cath.  Do not wait... the two disorders (reflux and heart disease) are virtually indistinguishable by the symptoms, so if something is a little different, get it checked right away.
