Understanding Tennis Elbow & Golfer's Elbow: Causes, Treatment & Relief

Question
Hello, I am 38 year old female with reoccurring problems with my elbow.  I have had tennis and golfer's elbow.  A few months ago I developed tennis elbow yet again!!  This time the pain was so bad I opted for a cortisone shot which actually made the pain worse then when I went in. The pain now radiates from the outside of the elbow to the  middle of my arm. I have several questions, first is it normal to have more pain with the cortisone shot, second it seemed to only work for a month before it flared up again (however I did go back and do more physical work...bad idea?) should I go and get another shot?  Also, what kind of OTC drugs can I take to relieve the pain because all the medications the Doctor has given me is too harsh for my stomach. I was also wondering if there is any truth to a rumor I have heard that broken bones in the affected arm ( I broke my arm when I was 7) can lead to problems such as tennis and golfers elbow down the road?

I would appreciate any ideas on how to tackle this, I am debating on whether or not to go and get another shot :-(

Answer: Not until you get the correct diagnosis, so see a sports medicine specialist first.

Answer: Drugs are not the answer but you need the nutrigenomic approach we use at the OSU Center for Integrative medicine by stopping all poultry and farm fed fish, peanut products, flax, soy, chips, granola, trail mix and increasing the omega-3 foods, see www.nutritiondata.com and search under the Nutrient Search tab for foods high in omega-3 and low in omega-6 essential oils for a start.

Answer: Yes, but see a sports medicine doctor who understands nutrition but DOES NOT SELL PRODUCTS!
