Pelvic Pain & Blood in Semen: Potential Causes & Connections

My husband is an active, healthy 52 year old.  He recently began complaining of pain just above the pubis, worse at night and with vigorous activity (jogging).  This evening, I noticed old blood in his semen after we had sex.  He denies this having occurred before.  Incidently (or not), he was recently hit in the inner thigh with a pitched baseball, leaving a very large, very dark hematoma from his groin to 3/4 of the way to his knees.  Are these connected?  Should he see a physician?

the injury isn't related.  I always wonder how people find blood in semen?  

The pain suggests a prostate infection or urinary infection.... he should get checked pretty quickly especially if he has not had routine physicals.  Blood is pretty common and doesn't worry us but combined with the pain.... prostatitis can make someone real sick real fast.
