QuestionI have these strange "attacks" if you will. I have had these for years. I haven't went to a Dr because they happen about every 3 to 6 months. To be blunt is seems like "gas" in some ways. And in some ways it doesn't. I am going to try to describe it the best that I can.
I get very bloated in my lower abdomen. I have pain that radiates all through my stomach to the point of feeling nauseous. But this is one of the things that don't add up to me. My breast ache terribly. Every now and then it will be both, but more often it is just the left breast. The really bad part of this attack and most of the extreme pain will only last a few hours. But it is severe pain while it is there. For days after this my lower abdomen is so tender and bruised. It feels like someone has beat me in my lower abdomen. I can barely stand to sit on any hard surfaces.I have noticed that for a couple of days after I am really gassy and have had some shooting rectal pain. I also seem to have more bowel movements then usual. I have also noticed that sex hurts. I am not talking about pressure from my husband being on me. Quite frankly any position hurts. It hurts in my lower abdomen as he is entering. I know this is graphic, but I am at a loss! I did mention this to my gynecologist and he said that it didn't sound like anything gynecological to him. I dont understand how he can say this when I am having breast pain. I also dont get very aggressive with it because like I said, it happens so rarely. If I had to deal with this for several days I would be at the er.
I posted on a message board and was told by 4 women that they have the same symptoms with endometriosis. But I dont have these attacks during my period. The other girls seem to have problems around the time of their periods. I may have had some during my period, but most have been more like mid month. I also dont have abnormal periods. They usually last about 4 days and they are not too terribly painful. I would say that I have a heavy flow, but nothing to be alarmed about. I have always gotten pg easily but have had 3 miscarriages since this has all started.
AnswerDear Angie,
Well I agree with the other women, it does sound like endo related symptoms. I too, have had the same pains to the point of nausea. And not just during my period. It can happen anytime of the month. It also happens during ovulation. Because endo attacks the areas you mentioned, it can cause a great deal of discomfort all the time.
I think, from personal experience with endo, that my uterus swells and drops at different times of the month, making you feel that way.
I'd definitely go to another doctor, specifically a specialist that can pinpoint your pain and treat it appropriately!
I also seemed to have increased bowel movements and rectal pain...endo can get into all those areas as well. Your symptoms may be at a further stage and need to be identified by a specialist.
A good place to look for a specialist is on the Endo Research Center website, they can advise you geographically who might be able to help!
Best of luck to you, take care of yourself!
