Post-D&C Pain: Understanding and Relief

Question
I had a D&C this past Wednesday, it is now Saturday. While the intense pain that had me doubled over in pain is subsiding slightly, I am still having "spasm" like symtoms. These spasm type pains move and are currently located behind my cervix area, almost in the "buttock" area. Yet it will feel like they are in my side sometimes, occasionally like my cervix is throbbing, things like that. Very hard to explain. The pain meds weren't really helping and the doctor said I had to either come in or continue with the Ibuprofen and Darvocet. I opted not to go in since a 45 min car ride seemed impossible with the pain I was in. Is it normal to feel such distributed pain throughout the torso from mid-rib cage down to lower, lower pelvic area, and across to each side. Shooting pains occasionally as they shoot across from one of those areas to another. The doctor had said I'd be back to normal the next day after surgery and I'm still waiting on that day...3 days later. I understand that I should have cramping but my cramping feels nothing like a period. I've even battled severe endometriosis so I feel familiar with "bad cramping". Any advice? Know of anyone else experiencing pain in diaphram area between rib cage as well as abdomen area? They said the rib cage area pain may be from anesthesiologist tryiing to wake me. (I want to know if they had to do CPR or something because it HURTS!)
Thank you for any and all advice or comments.  The doctor office just wasn't very informative when I called yesterday.

Answer
Hi Melissa
It's normal to have some mild cramping after a D&C, but certainly not the sort of pain (with the intensity) you are experiencing.
You need to go back and see someone ASAP, something doesn't sound right and you need to be examined.

I wouldn't lie to even guess at what it could be, I just know that in my experience (I too have had endo) and research, pain should not be so severe and generalised.

I hope this has helped as much as it possibly can!

Kindest Regards
Sarah
