Persistent Lower Right Side Pain: Causes & What to Do
QuestionHi,
I am a 49 year old woman and I have had a nagging pain in my lower right side ever since about October. I had this pain before once in a great while, but it would go away and I'd forget about it. Well, now it has become pretty much a constant. I can feel it when I move around and now when I am just sitting here. I went to the doc recently and when he pushed around on my guts, he found the spot and it was a sharp pain. I told him I had some problems with irritable bowel, so he told me to take probiotics and didn't act like it was anything, but I think living with a nagging pain is not normal and it's starting to be a worry to me. I keep worrying that I have chronic appendicitis and should be doing something about it. What do you think? Should I pursue testing? Thanks for your input.

AnswerI would probably check blood counts, check a urine sample on you. I would also have you get a colonoscopy if you haven't already...... since this is persisting, it is time for a workup. Chronic appy is a pretty rare condition, probably not on the top of my list of possibilities........ yes, pursue testing
