Lower Abdominal Pain & Potential Bladder Infection: What to Do
QuestionOn Friday the 5th of November, I was feeling fine, eating, peeing and pooping normally. My dog of 13 years died suddenly and I was devastated. Saturday I felt some pain in my lower abdomen, but thought that I had creid so hard I pulled something or that I just had a stomach ache. Sunday was worse with severe cramping and pain. I had a kidney stone last year and took a leftover percoset. Monday I was miserable. My husband thought I had a bladder infection. I drank A LOT of cranberry juice and the more I peed, the better I felt. I noticed that one time I went and it looked like a small pebble in the bottom of the toilet. I think I had another kidney stone. I feel a little better day by day, but I have some residual pain (mainly soreness) and I have gas. The pain mainly comes now when (excuse me) I have to fart. I just started a new job and the insurance does not kick in for a little while. I did not get the burning that you get supposedly when you have a UTI, but I am scared of Ovarian Cancer. Can you help me?
AnswerIt isn't ovarian cancer. The stress can cause colon cramping, but I would have expected some diarrhea.
The pain sounds more like a urinary infection or kidney stone. It would pay to get the urine checked, or at least keep pushing the liquids. Some urinary infections will self cure but if there is fever or a lot of back pain, that has to be treated with antibiotics.
