QuestionHi,
A little background before I tell you my problem: I'm 20, STD-free, sexually active, and have been on birth control pills since I was 18. I started a new brand in December of last year. Everything has been going fine since.
I have missed pills before, but I have never become pregnant. I do have unprotected sex.
I recently missed 2 pills last week and did what my nurse told me to. My pregnancy test came out negative.
However, I have been spotting (light brown color) with some dark brown clotting. This has been the third day in a row. My period is supposed to start a week from now.
I've never spotted before my period, but the even more strange thing I can't figure out is this minor itch that occurs every now and then through out the day.
It's not a strong itch; meaning I don't feel like I need to scratch it, but it's very discomforting.
There is no odor, unpleasant discharge, or inflammation.
What could this be?
AnswerHi Audi,
I'm not a medical expert so really can't diagnose what that itch might be. I would suggest asking your nurse or doctor. I presume that your nurse told you to take the missed birth control pills?
If you ever want a free pregnancy test, you can get one at a local pregnancy resource center. To find one, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Or try this website

I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods because of risks and side effects to a woman's health. Have you had anything like that since being on the pill? Please let me know what happens.
