Post-Birth Control Effects: Understanding Side Effects and Recovery
QuestionI am 38 yrs old and have been taking birth control (Ortho Tryclen) for many years. I am not currently married and recently lost my insurance when I was laid off so due to finances and being health conscious I thought it would be best to just stop taking them. However they did help with regulating and my skin breakouts. Since getting off the pill Ive been experiencing migranes, moodiness, breakouts, feelings of depression and being over anxious. Its been almost a month now, lacking a few days. Will all this go away at some point or will I completely lose it? I just dont feel normal and my skin thinks Im going through puberty again:) Any information would be helpful.

AnswerHi Rhonda,
Thanks for your question and hope I can help. Please consult your personal physician also about this question as I am not a medical doctor. I think it is healthy to stop taking the pills and yes, this could be your body reacting to the loss of the hormones you have been taking for years. It might take a little time for your body to get regulated again back to normal. I would like to do a little more research if you would email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
I hope to hear from you soon.
