Postpartum Spotting & Sexual Activity After Weight Loss: What to Expect

Question
30 yr.old female.  I have recently lost 33 lbs. and due to this my husband and I have became very sexually active again.  We went from nearly nothing to almost every night for the past month.  Also, it is quite vigourse but is not painful.  My question is this.... two weeks ago, I had my period, I think. ( I am using the Mirena IUD and don't have a regular period.)  Anyways, after my period, we had sex. No spotting this first night, but the next 3 nights I had spotting, light.  Then for several days no spotting after sex.  Then, it happened again, very light.  Now, this morning, after no sex last night, I wake up to spotting.  No pain, not even enough spotting for a pad but, just enough to notice.  2 yrs. ago I had a cervical ectropion but my docotr said getting the iud would help and it did. no probs since, until now.  of course, we were no where near this sexually active then. This isn't everytime we have sex and the blood is brown and goes away quickly. And too, it seems like it isn't just after sex that triggers it, like I lifted a box the other day and strained some and I spotted a little soon after.  What could this be?

Answer
It may be either from the irregular bleeding that can come from your Mirena or from the cervical ectropion.  I don't think it's anything serious, but if it continues I'd go see your doctor for a check.  Your hormones change because of the weight loss, so that may also have something to do with it.  Bleeding that comes with intercourse is usually bleeding that would have come anyway, but the intercourse brings it on.
