Question
Hi! I took the abortion pill in my doctors office on june 19th and inserted the other 4 pills vaginally at 11p.m. that night, I began to miscarriage at about 2a.m. i bled heavily that day and slowly began to get lighter. i was like that for about 1 week. around july 17 i felt bloated and light cramping. i started to spot very light brown on the 19th of july is that normal? could i still be pregnant? i have not taken a h.p. test?

Answer
Hi, Veronica,

First of all, there are some things you didn't tell us. How far along were you? Usually the pills only work until about 49 days, and the closer to that point you were, the more likely it won't work and they will have to follow up surgically.

I am concerned that they advised you to use the pills vaginally, because this can lead to toxic shock syndrome and death within hours. If they don't know this, or don't care, they're being negligent. By now, most likely, this danger is past.

Yes, there is a possibility you are still pregnant, though that doesn't seem likely, given what you have described. You can take a test, and it should tell you whether you are still pregnant or not. You SHOULD have a regular period rather than just spotting. You could have what they call a missed abortion.

I'd have it checked out. I can't tell you anything over the internet, of course. Neither could a doctor. So you need to go see one personally. Please go to someone else. The doctor who did treat you cannot be trusted, because he put your life at risk, needlessly.

I hope and pray that you will be fine. Feel free to contact me again if you need to. And let me know how you do.
