i have been on ovral for over a year, having tried both low and regular.  i gained wieght, i had breakthorugh bleeding, nausea in the morning and serious mood swings.  prety much any crappy side effect i could've gotten i had.  i just gave it up at least for a couple of months last weekend.  all this week i have still been very moody.  is it possible that i am still feeling effects from it being in my system for so long?  if so, how long do these effects usually last?

You are definitely very sensitive to the steroidal hormones in the pill.  You have upset your normal biorhythms and can expect to have some time of adjustment before things return to normal - if they return to normal.  It may take a few months.  Moodiness could also be PMS.  There are natural remedies for all your cycling problems.  Look into them before resorting to drugs again.
