Irregular Period After Tonsillectomy: Causes & What To Do

Question
Hi, I am 27 yrs. old.  I am married. Medication currently taking multi-vitamin w/ numerous supplements, Allegra D, Nasonex. I have been on birth control pills for almost 10 yrs. now.  Have been on Lo-Ovral 28 days for about 4 yrs.  My periods have always been like clock work.  I usually have them every 28-32 days.  At the end of Oct. I had my tonsils taken out and wasn't able to take my birth control pills for a few days, so the next week I had a period that ended around the 12th of Nov.  They are usually 3-5 days long.  Well I was suppose to start this past Sunday - Monday and it is now Friday.  I did have a few (3) drop of very light blood (almost watery light pink) and thats it and I didn't even have to use any tampons.  I have never experienced anything like this before and its got me a little bit freaked out.  I did take a EPT pregancy test today and it showed negative. I didn't know if I should go to my ob/gyn for a blood test or if having a few drops is considered having a period or if my cycle got thrown off or something.  Can you please offer some insight?

Answer
Hello.  I am not sure if you are back on your pills now or not by your letter.
I think that the spots WAS your period.  It was probably like that from the sugery and the missing of the pills etc.
Since the test showed negative and you did have some bleeding I do not see any reason to go to the Dr.
I would wait and see what happens next month.
Good luck.
P.S. Having been on the pill for ten years you probably already know this but just in case let me remind you that while on pills your period is not late untill you have started a new pack.
Good luck.
