Persistent Bleeding After Period - Causes & What to Do
QuestionI am a 32 yo old, and the first date of my last period was 2/1/05. I started bleeding again on 2/19/05 and it hasn't stopped. I'm not in any type of pain, nor am I taking any type of medications. The flow isn't very heavy, but it seems like I've having another period this month. Could I possibly be ovulating? If not, what else could it be? Please advise. Thanks!
AnswerYou appear to have some homronal imbalance this month. I would start keeping a careful record of your bleeding (staining, spotting, and heavy bleeding) in a little calendar book for three cycles and then see if this abnormal bleeding recurs. If so, consult with your gynecologist. You may have to have hormonal regulation of your period if it recurs. However, one episode of mid cycle bleeding is not worrisome. Although ovulatory bleeding can occur around cycle day #14 or thereafter, it usually is much lighter than a regular period and lasts only a few days. It is certainly possible that the spotting you are having now is, indeed, due to ovulation. Just keep a record for the next few months.
