Expert Interview Request: Teen Abortion & Parental Involvement Laws

Question
I am doing a research project on teen abortion and parental involvement laws.  As part of my project I need to interview an expert on the subject or someone who would have a strong opinion about it.  I was wondering if you could possibly help me out with this.  There are some specific questions that I have made up that need to be answered.

1) Name and profession

2)How is it that your profession deals with the issue of parental involvement laws in teen abortion?  If it doesn't explain how you are involved with the subject.

3)  Do you feel parental involvement laws are fair?  Why or why not?

4)  For girls that are afraid to tell their parents, what kind of reasons do you see they usually have, or what kind of reasons do you think that they would have?

5)  Are there any specific measures you would like to see taken involving parental consent laws?

6)  Are you pro-life or pro-choice?  Why?

7)  Do you think that these laws invade a minor's constitutional rights?  Why or why not?

8)  What kind of advice would you give to a teenager faced with a unplanned pregnancy?

9)  Would a minor really be able to come to an intelligen decision when faced with the choice of an abortion?  Why or why not?

10)  Do you have any additional comments or ideas about parental involvement laws that could help me with my project?

Answer
Hi Denise :) I currently don't WORK in the field of abortion, but I'm very much into the pro-choice movement and know what I'm talking about.

1)Danielle, currently student working on my general ed req.

2)I know people who could be affected by these laws.

3)Yes, I want all of these notification and consent laws abolished. It'll be better and much safer for teens.

4) Not wanting their parents to know they had sex (or were raped, if that's tragically the  case :( ), since some parents will punish daughters for sex I'm sure, they don't want to be pressured into keeping it, they don't think it's any of their parent's business, and unfortunately, some are in abusive households.

5)Yes, I want all of these notification and consent laws abolished. In my dream world, Congress will pass the Freedom of Choice Act and President Obama will sign it into law.

6)Pro-choice. Women and girls should be able to make their own decisions concerning their own pregnancy, whatever that may be. "pro-life" is anti-woman-it denies women the right to have a say over what happens with THEIR OWN BODY. If it's not your uterus, keep to yourself. No one but the woman is the one who will be dealing full on with the situation.

7)Definitely. Law shouldn't legislate conversation between kids and parents.

8) Speak with someone at Planned Parenthood-and make sure it's not a crisis pregnancy center! They lure women in, show them anti-choice propaganda to coerce them out of making their own choice. Think about what you want for your future-you come first, not the embryo/fetus. This is no one else's decision but yours, you're the one who goes through whatever will happen.

9)Of course! What would make a minor unable to come to an intelligent decision over an adult? They're not making rushed decisions-you don't walk in, abort, then leave. It takes time, planning, money, and support. Who is anyone else but the girl to say what's best for her?

10) Check out Planned Parenthood resources, and good luck with your project!
