Post-Abortion Cycle Irregularities: Understanding Delayed Periods

I had an abortion 6 months ago. I only experienced slight bleeding after but havent had a proper period since. I have returned from travelling today and will be speaking to my doctor but i wondered if you could explain any reasons for my problems as im thinking the worst and that maybe i have been damaged by the abortion. I performed a pregnancy test a few months ago and havent had unprotected sex. I am also on the pill so its unlikely that im pregnant. I live in Spain and sometimes its difficult to understand and ask the questions that you want to ask because of the language difference. I look forward to hearing from you

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor and I see that you are speaking to your own physician. Please ask a followup question or email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com to let me know what your doctor said about your problem. It does take a while for your period to start being more normal. But 6 months is a long time to get back to normal.
The birth control pill also can cause irregularity in your monthly cycle because of the hormones. I would like to talk to you more about birth control, etc if you would email me.
