Post-Abortion Period: What to Expect & When to See a Doctor

I had a surgical abortion on the 16th of december 2008  ,i was only 5wks and 2days gone when i had the abortion ,but anyway the pregnancy is gone,cos the symptoms are gone,but  i don't know when to expect my next period,pls i need to know when to expect my next period

It is normal to have irregular or delayed periods after an abortion.  In a few months, your period will come back to normal.  The only concern with a delayed period is that 1) you could still be pregnant - but if you pregnancy symptoms went away that is unlikely; 2) you got pregnant again.  If you are concerned about either of those scenarios, you should check a home pregnancy test.  It should be negative by now.  

Otherwise, your period can normally come 3 weeks to 3 months later, and this is not a problem.
