Post-Abortion Recovery: Expected Period & Remaining Tissue Concerns

QUESTION: Hello,
Im 24, and hav gone for a medical abortion on 26 May 2011 under doc supervision, after 10 days once my bleeding got over i went for scanning as per the report dos told the sac is expelled, however some remains were still inside to which the doc asked to take 3 dose of cytolog, i took 2 dose of cytolog but nothing came out, now i want to know when can i expect my next period, as its 4 weeks now after abortion. Please let me know if the abortion remains hav any effect on the next periods? Should I wait for some more time until i get periods or should i visit the doc and consult. Please help and advise..Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Pavani.
the scan after an abortion is never reliable.
Some blood clots may be present and give a false image.
After an abortion the period are irregular and unpredictable for about 3 months .
So no worry.

Just be patient.

QUESTION: Hi Shan,

Thanks for the immediate response, it relieved me a lot however, I wanted to know if the remains will hav any effect on my next periods or in future on any thing? And if everything is fine what is the maximum time i should wait for my next periods and please advise if i need to visit the doc in case the periods are delayed from normal time or i should just wait and all this is normal and will not have any impact.Can u also suggest me any medicine to get periods in these circumstances

After an abortion the period are irregular and unpredictable for about 3 months .
So, no special action needed. THERE ARE JUST NO SAFE DAYS FOR SEX.
Do not have unprotected sex anymore if you do not want a baby.
Why risk all this trouble again ?
take better care with yourself.
