QuestionQUESTION: i had a surgical abortion on 13th of april.I did not bleed after abortion except few hours.then bleeding again started after one week and continued till third week after abortion.can i get normal periods right after this or not?i am worried because i had sex using condom in third week and after that only my bleeding stopped.
ANSWER: Hi, alex,
Nobody knows when your body will return to some semblance of normal. Abortion causes a major disruption of the woman's delicate hormonal balance. Eventually, things should go back to some kind of pattern, but I can't tell you if it will ever be normal. Most likely it will be a recognizable pattern.
Please be aware. Condoms don't work. There are two things you can do that are much more reliable. The first is abstinence (no genital sex). That is 100% foolproof. Keep his organ and his and your fingers away from the area (if you have handled his organ), also. The second is to determine when you are fertile. You MUST chart faithfully, and you can't be using any hormones. It is more reliable than the contraceptive pill if you chart faithfully and abstain when you are fertile.

While I think it is unlikely you were fertile so soon after your abortion, you may want to do a pregnancy test. This can be done in a week or so, and if it's negative, do it again in another week.
Abortion is dangerous. Please don't take any more chances. You deserve better.

QUESTION: after abortion for how many days my pregnancy test will show positive result?i had sex in third week after abortion then when to have pregnancy test ?
AnswerHi, alex,
Figure out what day you had sex. Test two weeks later. If you get a negative test, wait a week and try again. That should be sufficient. However, as I explained before, everyone is different. I have heard things all over the map about how long it takes for the hormones to go back to the nonpregnant levels. There is simply no way anybody can answer the question you are asking, about how long the levels remain high. It just varies widely from one woman to another. Even if a doctor tests you, he can't tell you for sure that the level is high because of the disruption caused by your abortion, or because you are pregnant again.
The doctor may be able to use a more sophisticated test. You'll have to ask about that. But nobody can really advise you about this over the internet. This is really a medical question about your body, and will require examinations and tests.
Take care.
