QuestionQUESTION: Hi,
I had my last periods on 25 oct 10 . I got pregnant and had an abortion on the 2nd dec 10. now its almost been 3 months and i haven't got my periods. i followed up with my gynecologist and she advised me to take pill 72 for 3 days and a subsequent wait of 7 to 10 days but this ended with no results she then asked me to do an ultrasound to check if the uterine mouth had shut or for some scarring. this too turned out clear and she then said probably i have some hormone imbalance for which i was advised estogen and progeston for 5 days 1 tablet daily of each. after this too i haven't got my periods plz advise really worried.
Thanks.
ANSWER: Usually it take six for periods to reappear after abortion. However three months is bit to long and hence you are rightly being evaluated. There are many causes for absent periods and some of the top causes include pregnancy, anovulation galactorhoea, thyroid disorders, other hormonal disorders and premature ovarian failure.
There are a few questione need to ask you
1. Are you gaining weight?
2. Do you feel lethargic consistently?
3. Do you have hot flushes?
4. Have yo done a estrogen, progesterone, FSH and LH assay? If yes can you send me the results.
5. Do you have head aches or any discharge of milk or milk like substance from the nipple?
From what I infer from your case it seems like a case of hormonal imbalance. I will advice you to take estrogen for 14 days, followed by progesterone for 7 day and wait seven days. If you get your period fine, if you do not then continue the same cycle and your periods should normalize in 2-3 such cycles.

Answerhi, sorry I got a little busy. But I think that you should see a endocrinologist because you have leathergy as well as a discharge of milk like substance from the nipples. This means that you could possibly have galactorrhea and it is very important to rule this out. So seek consultation with an endocrinilogist asap and get the following tests done, FSH, LH, Estrogen, progesterone and prolactin. You may also require a MRI of the brain. Do not delay. Seek consultation immediately.
