Abortion & Birth Control: Period & Pregnancy Concerns After Intercourse

Question
Hello,

I had an abortion 16th March, I was 6 weeks. I started birth control the next day. I had sex with my partner 5th April and he ejaculated inside of me. Now my only concern is, the 21 day birth control is finished today, 6th April, I am very worried regarding if I will get my period or have I a higher chance of becomming pregnant? I'm really confused, I've taken the pill religiously and never missed it over the 21 days.

Thank you

Answer
Hi, Diana,

While it seems reasonable to assume that the birth control worked, there are no guarantees. If you have taken antibiotics during this time, it probably won't. At least you are not assuming that because he pulled out, you're safe. That doesn't work either.

Please don't take any more chances! You can find other ways to express affection. Any kind of penetration can lead to sexually transmitted disease or HIV, though. If you stop taking hormones, you can learn to tell when you are fertile. You have to chart faithfully. But you can't do this while you are on hormones. Obviously, while your hormones are returning to normal, you'd have to abstain. You can have a doctor check your hormones if you want, but you should observe fertile mucus when your body returns to normal. To find out more, go here:

There is no sense in you worrying like this. You really deserve better. It's not good for a woman to subject her body to abortion, either, so you probably won't want to go through that again. Stay safe!
